Position Details
Start date: negotiable but ideally before January 1, 2026.
Position is part time (16-18 hours per week).
Wage: $40 - $55 per hour, depending on experience.
Allowance for remote work expenses (e.g. internet, cell phone, computer, etc.).
Flexible schedule, on very rare occasions may require evening or weekend work.
Work remotely from home office.

About the Johnston Group:
The Johnston Group provides federal government relations services to small and medium sized public entities in the Pacific Northwest with an emphasis on helping our clients obtain federal funding. The Executive Assistant and Client Services position will play a key role in supporting the Johnston Group’s President and serving our clients with scheduling and event management.
Position Summary:
The Executive Assistant and Client Services position is responsible for assisting the Johnston Group President with coordinating client projects regarding federal funding, researching and communicating federal funding opportunities to clients and managing timelines, project deliverables and scheduling.
This is a part time position and is expected to encompass an average of 16-18 hours per week. There is not a set work schedule and the work can be performed as the employee needs so long as it is within standard business hours. The employee is expected to work remotely and will be responsible for managing their own time and schedule in consultation with the Johnston Group’s President. Occasional but infrequent face to face meetings between the President and the Executive Assistant and Client Services position may be required.
The ideal candidate communicates clearly and has a keen interest in politics and policy, a detail-oriented commitment to client service, a collaborative work ethic, an insatiable curiosity and strong attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Executive Assistant
Manage the calendar of the Johnston Group President, schedule meetings, manage complex calendars and ensure the executive's time is utilized efficiently.
Screen calls, manage email, and draft or edit correspondence, serving as a primary point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.
Plan and organize meetings and events, preparing materials and taking meeting minutes.
Assist with office operations and support special projects as needed.
Arrange and coordinate all aspects of executive travel, including flights, accommodations and itineraries.
Serve as a liaison between executive and clients, partners, and other stakeholders, fostering positive relationships.
Capacity to anticipate needs, identify process improvements, and operate at a strategic level to support executive goals.
Client Services
Track client projects and maintain project workflows to ensure that client projects are on schedule and that all parties are clearly communicating.
Work with the Johnston Group President on client projects and fill in wherever needed.
Must have the ability to handle sensitive information with the utmost confidentiality and discretion.
Provide a second set of eyes on work materials (e.g. draft materials for clients such as talking points, project summaries, community outreach materials, correspondence, etc.).
Congressional Liaison
Maintain current list of congressional delegation and key staff in DC and district-based offices.
Schedule meetings for clients with the Congressional delegation both in the state and during client fly-ins to Washington, D.C.
Marketing, Events and Administration
Update website and marketing materials.
Assist clients with media and community meetings between clients and the congressional delegation.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Excellent interpersonal communication skills for working effectively with diversity of stakeholders, largely via email, videoconference and phone.
Highly organized and detail-oriented.
Ability to self-manage, prioritize and meet deadlines.
Background with advocacy efforts, political campaigns, local, state or federal government offices or officials a plus.
A demonstrated ability to manage programs, timelines, projects with diverse stakeholders.
Proficient with (or ability to quickly learn) Microsoft Word, Exchange, Excel, PowerPoint, Apple Numbers, Squarespace and Dropbox.
